Ear Infections

Ear Infections Dietary: During any kind of illness or infection, drink plenty of water. It is also important to eliminate common allergy producing foods such as wheat, corn, peanut butter, dairy products and all foods with sugars (as well as processed and even natural sugars such as honey, maple or rice syrup, and fruit juices with added sweeteners.)

Nutrients: Vitamin A (50,000 IU) and Vitamin E (600 IU) daily (adults); Natural Beta Carotene (20,000 IU daily); Vitamin C with bioflavonoids (3,000-7,000 mg daily, in divided doses); Zinc (10 mg in lozenges, 3 X daily for 5 days); For repeated infections essential fatty acids such as Evening Primrose Oil (1,000 mg daily for adults and children over 6; 500 mg daily for children under 6.)

Herbal Formulas:

During early stages of ear infection: ViraMuneTM contains Red Root (an herb historically used to shrink swollen lymph nodes), Echinacea Purpurea (used to cleanse and rebuild the lymph system), Yarrow, Myrrh, Red Clover and Oregon Grape Root. Suggested Use: 1/2 teaspoon 3-6 times per day. (Approximately 1/4 tsp. per 25 lbs. body weight.)

For acute or chronic infection: Scout OutTM which contains Echinacea Angustifolia, Goldenseal Root, St. John's Wort, Mullein, Yellow Dock, Red Clover, Honeysuckle, Myrrh, Yucca, Rosemary and Cloves. Suggested Use: 1/2 teaspoon 3-6 times per day. (Approximately 1/4 tsp. per 25 lbs. body weight.)

Caution: Large amounts of Goldenseal are cautioned for those with hypoglycemia or high blood pressure (no more than one week at a time); not for use during pregnancy except under the guidance of a health care practitioner.

External: Massage area around the ear with Lympha Rub or Apply 2-3 warm drops around the ear of *Hear No Evil as needed.

*For anyone with sensitive skin, replace Hear No Evil with Lympha Rub.
